Step-by-step: studs
- Set out. Snap chalk lines for the edges of the warning field. Standard depth is 600 mm (two template widths), set back 300 mm from a stair nosing or platform edge unless the specification says otherwise.
- Clean. Wipe the field with IPA and let it flash off; do not use household cleaners, which leave residues.
- Position the template on the chalk line.
- Peel and place. Remove the liner from a stud, drop it into a template hole, and press for five seconds. A tap with the mallet seats the tape fully.
- Move along. Lift the template, align it with the last row, and repeat.
- Protect. Keep the area dry for 24 hours. Full bond in 72 hours.
Step-by-step: strips
- Snap the path centreline. Keep the path at least 30 mm clear of walls and 600 mm clear of obstacles where possible.
- Clean with IPA.
- Place the alignment template on the line; it holds four bars at 75 mm centres.
- Peel each bar, drop it into the slot, press from one end to the other to avoid trapped air.
- Check alignment every 2 m with a straight edge; adhesive bars can be lifted and repositioned within the first minute.
